EURid introduces new Policies to comply with Belgian transposition of the NIS2 Directive

18 Oct. 2024

EURid has published two new policies in line with the Belgian implementation of the NIS2 Directive, aimed at enhancing security and transparency in domain name management. These policies, the Registration Data Disclosure Policy and the Registration Data Verification Policy, are part of EURid's ongoing commitment to ensuring the integrity and accessibility of registration data.

  • The Registration Data Disclosure Policy establishes the conditions under which legitimate access seekers can request access to registration data from a domain name holder. EURid will disclose registration data within 72 hours of receiving a duly motivated request demonstrating a legitimate interest, or within 24 hours for urgent cases. To streamline the process for data requests, we have also introduced a new request form.

  • The Registration Data Verification Policy focuses on maintaining the accuracy and completeness of registration data. Using the EURidity platform, launched in May 2024, EURid will continue to verify the registration data in its daily procedures. The policy also clarifies that under Belgian law, suspended domain names cannot be transferred to another registrar.
