EURid at Codeweek: fourth year running!
We are pleased to be part of the Codeweek initiative already for the fourth year. Aiming to make a beneficial impact on today’s youth, we will build upon previous years’ efforts, with even more free workshops and interactive sessions for children and teachers to take part in – all in an effort to teach them the fundamentals of coding, programming, and robotics.
“We believe it to be our responsibility to help our youth to move from passive recipients to active creators. To empower them to better understand the backstage of the digital universe so that they can use the knowledge for their personal growth, as well as to thrive to create a better world”, comments Regina Filipová Fuchsová, EURid´s Regional Manager Central Europe.
Our participation in CodeWeek 2019 includes 10 workshops in four countries:
- In Belgium EURid will collaborate with hosting company Combell and organize two workshops in Ghent, and two in Diegem. A total of 80 primary school teachers will be trained in the user-friendly coding language: Scratch.
- In Sweden, two workshops on robotics for 50 elementary school students will be held at the Solna Public Library, and at Bergshamra.
- In Italy, training of 80 students from the Vincenzo Galilei high school in Pisa will take place in a user-friendly programming language at the European Gravitational Observatory in Cascina.
- In Czech Republic, two workshops using programming tools (Baltie and SketchUp) and robotics platforms (Lego MINDSTORMS, Ozobots, Micro.bit), will be held at Central Library in Prague.
CodeWeek 2019 will take place from 5 – 20 October 2019. Follow EURid’s CodeWeek journey through Twitter (@EUregistry) and Facebook (@EUregistry), using the hashtag #CodeWeekEU.
