EC adopts IDN amendments to .eu regulation
26 June 2009
Brussels, 26 June 2009 – Today the European Commission adopted the amendments to the EC regulation 874/2004 , which lays down the public policy rules concerning the implementation and function of the .eu TLD. The amendments have been introduced to allow the launch of Internationalised Domain Names – IDNs – under .eu.
IDNs are domain names that may contain non-ASCII characters. These characters include letters with accents and characters in non-Latin languages such as Greek, for example. See the EC press release.
