EURid certified for ISO/IEC 27001 (Security)

20 Nov. 2013

Brussels, 20 November 2013 - In order to provide secure, high-quality services to .eu accredited registrars and the general public, EURid has recently implemented the requirements of ISO 27001, an information security standard set by the International Standardization Organization. The .eu registry was officially certified on 22 October 2013 following an audit by BSI, the British Standards Institution.

ISO 27001 provides requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continuously improving an Information Security Management System (ISMS) in the framework of general company risks. It includes people, processes and IT systems by applying a risk management process.

“Respecting and maintaining the security of information that is received from our stakeholders is vital,” said EURid’s General Manager Marc Van Wesemael. “While we have contractual and legal obligations towards our stakeholders and the marketplace, we also want to strive for excellence in all of our operations by continuously improving the quality of our internal operations, including the way we protect our information and information systems.”

EURid has been proactive in Business Continuity and Contingency Management since 2007. The ISO 27001 certification is the most recent demonstration of the registry’s commitment to ensuring security.
