WIPO ADR for EURid – 2017 in numbers
June of 2017 marked the start of our .eu and .ею Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) partnership with WIPO. In 2017, the partnership resulted in 13 ADR cases administered (involving 14 domains), with 6 being successfully processed. The most notable case processed thus far concerned the revocation of Instragram typosquatter (using an “l” instead of an “i”) ‘lnstagram.eu’.
Of the 13 ADR cases administered, 6 led to domain name revocation or transfer, 2 were terminated by the complainant, and 5 are still pending review.
If you want to dispute a .eu or .ею domain name registration and believe that you have a prior right (within the EU or EEA) to the domain name (e.g. you hold a trademark, trade name, company name, family name, etc) and the current holder has registered or uses the domain name for speculative or abusive purposes, you can challenge its registration by initiating an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) procedure.
The ADR rules apply.
