How important has your website, Etherial.eu, been for your business over the past 10 years?
“Our .eu domain has unequivocally played an integral role in the overall success of Etherial. I remember in 2006 when Etherial was being setup, one of our team’s first priorities was to obtain a .eu European identity. I was very adamant about this, despite the fact that initially our web development department advised me to get a local Cypriot domain. Cyprus had only been in the European Union for two years and there was still much Euro-skepticism and uncertainty in the air. In retrospect, I consider our brand very fortunate to proceed with the .eu European identity. Europe’s and EURids’s achievements and innovations concerning the Internet and technology over the past 10 years form an essential part of the growth of the European economy and this “growth-wave” has taken Etherial along with it which has grown progressively and side by side with EURid. The raw output of technological advancement and the Internet from Europe consistently ranks among the best in the world and this reflects positively on all .eu domains which make the effort to maintain a user friendly, high quality, practicable and above all operational and well-functioning website.”
How much has your victory as the most nominated site at the 2014 .eu Web Awards affected your business?
“Today Etherial celebrates one successful decade of Luxury Jewelry design and manufacturing. During these ten years we have been nominated for various awards and became distinguished members of various prestigious organizations. However, nothing to date compares with winning the “Most Nominated site” award at the 2014 .eu Web Awards held in Brussels. It was big news in Cyprus and considered a National victory due to the fact that the award came at the absolute worst time in the History of post-war Cyprus. There was economic chaos on the Island and this award which originated from the European Union itself was a beacon of light and inspiration for many young entrepreneurs who struggled in the aftermath of the 2013 economic crisis. On a broader ethnical viewpoint, this award was used by the new government and media to send a clear message to our European counterparts that Cyprus has already began to bounce back from the 2013 crash and more importantly inspired, encouraged and gave hope to many young entrepreneurs and small business owners which by 2014 lost most of their savings and businesses. On a personal basis, this award created awareness of Etherial overseas and confidence to purchase online from a Cypriot company making us today the number one exporter of Luxury goods manufactured in Cyprus.”
Can you tell us a little bit about your future plans?
“Every successful business regularly reviews its business plan to ensure it continues to meet its needs. Planning is key to any business throughout its existence. So, it's sensible to review our current performance and identify the most likely strategies for growth. Once we have reviewed our progress and identified the key growth areas that we want to target, we will revisit our business plan and make it a road map to the next stages of Etherial. Our brand is a trademark which manufactures a very specific style of “Rock Chic Luxury Jewelry”. Our designs are very particular and are aimed at a narrow and specific clientele rather than a broad general one. What I can reveal for the purposes of this interview, is that we are currently working on expanding our jewelry range and working on a proposal in conjunction with a foreign conglomerate to create a new line under the Etherial brand, which will target a broader audience.”
