Update on Brexit-related domain names in the “WITHDRAWN” status

As communicated via email and on our dedicated Brexit webpage, on 1 July 2021, we moved all Brexit-related domain names to the “WITHDRAWN” status. Domain names in the “WITHDRAWN” status do not function and are no longer visible in the registrar’s portfolio.

On 1 January 2022, we will revoke all Brexit-related, non-compliant domain names. Subsequently, we will release those domain names in batches.

Should a registrant still wish to reinstate a domain name in the “WITHDRAWN” status, provided they meet the .eu eligibility criteria, they must contact EURid directly, as soon as possible and NO LATER than 31 December 2021. According to the reinstatement procedure, a registrant of a Brexit-related domain name has to submit a request. Should the request be evaluated positively, EURid will activate the domain name with the provided registration data by moving it to a dedicated EURid Brexit holding account. The status of the domain name will be updated to “REGISTERED”, and a one-year term will be added to the registration.

EURid will invite the registrant to log in to the My.eu account (using the e-mail address provided in the request) and obtain a transfer authorisation code that can be handled to any registrar of their choice. Registrars should use this transfer authorisation code to transfer the domain name to their portfolio via a regular transfer command.

PLEASE NOTE: An activated Brexit related domain name, that has not been transferred to any accredited registrar by 31 December 2021, will be revoked and made available for general registration.
