Q3 2025 marks highest registration growth for .eu

In Q3 2025, EURid continued to strengthen trust, security, and inclusivity, recording 213,916 new registrations – a clear increase from 181,575 in Q2 2025 and 170,211 in Q3 2024, reflecting healthy growth in the .eu domain name space. Alongside this, the quarter brought several other key highlights that demonstrate EURid’s ongoing commitment to a multilingual, and innovative internet.

The latest IDN Market Report revealed that, despite continued technical progress and policy support, the global adoption of Internationalised Domain Names (IDNs) remains limited. Just ten top-level domains account for around 75% of all IDNs worldwide. In this context, EURid’s ongoing work to promote linguistic diversity and universal acceptance remains vital to ensuring that the internet is accessible to speakers of all languages.

Meanwhile, The Domain Name Industry Brief for Q2 2025 confirmed EURid’s continued strong performance, with .eu ranking among the world’s top ten country code top-level domains (ccTLDs). Global domain name registrations grew by 3.3 million compared to the previous quarter and by 9.3 million year-on-year, further reinforcing .eu’s position within an expanding global domain name landscape.

EURid also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting users and ensuring trust in the .eu namespace. As online abuse grows more sophisticated through the misuse of artificial intelligence and deepfake technologies, EURid’s proactive systems – including the Abuse Prevention and Early Warning System (APEWS) and Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures – play a key role in preventing and addressing harmful behaviour. These measures help safeguard the integrity of the .eu space and uphold its core values of transparency and accountability.

Finally, this quarter marked the launch of the renewed 2025 .eu Web Awards, celebrating 93 inspiring nominees from 16 countries. The competition continues to recognise outstanding .eu websites for their creativity, innovation, and social impact, highlighting the digital projects and initiatives that are shaping Europe’s online future.
