This week began with the Global Multistakeholder High Level Conference on the governance of Web 4.0 and virtual worlds, held on 31 March and 1 April 2025 in Brussels. The event was organised by the European Commission and the 2025 Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The conference gathered high-level policymakers, technologists, academics, and community leaders from around the world to discuss policy and technical frameworks for the ethical and inclusive governance of Web 4.0 and virtual environments. Key topics included standardisation, internet technical management, and aligning governance models with the multistakeholder approach.
EURid was represented by Business Operations Manager Hans Seeuws and Legal Counsel Julie Michel, who contributed to the session "A robust multistakeholder governance for the future internet in the era of Web 4.0 and virtual worlds".
We thank the organisers for the opportunity to share our perspective.
