Cyber resilience at EURid

At EURid, we recognise the critical importance of maintaining robust cyber resilience to protect the .eu top-level domain (TLD). As the not-for-profit organisation appointed by the European Commission to manage the .eu TLD, we are committed to ensuring the highest standards of security and operational integrity.

ISO/IEC 27001 certification

As an essential entity and in compliance with Belgian NIS legislation, EURid is ISO/IEC 27001 certified. This certification underscores our dedication to implementing a comprehensive information security management system (ISMS). Our ISMS is designed to safeguard sensitive data, ensure business continuity, and mitigate the risks associated with cyberthreats.

In essence, ISO/IEC 27001 helps organisations become risk-aware and proactively identify and address weaknesses in their information security. It promotes a holistic approach by considering people, policies, and technology, making it a valuable tool for risk management, cyber resilience and operational excellence.

Proactive security measures

We employ a multi-layered approach to cybersecurity, integrating advanced technologies and best practices to defend against evolving cyberthreats. Our proactive measures include:

  • Continuous monitoring: Utilising state-of-the-art monitoring tools to detect and respond to suspicious activities in real time.

  • Incident response: A well-defined incident response plan to address and mitigate the impact of cybersecurity incidents swiftly.

  • Regular audits and assessments: Conducting frequent security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen our defences.

  • Employee training: Ongoing training programmes to ensure our staff is equipped with the knowledge to recognise and respond to cyberthreats effectively.

  • Business continuity and disaster recovery: Implementing comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery plans to ensure minimal disruption and rapid recovery in the event of a cybersecurity incident. These plans include data backups, system redundancies, and regular testing to ensure we are prepared for all eventualities.

Collaboration and innovation

EURid collaborates with industry partners, security experts and regulatory bodies to stay ahead of emerging threats and innovations in cybersecurity. As a founding member of the European TLD ISAC, we actively contribute to and benefit from this key collaborative platform.

This collaboration enables us to adopt cutting-edge solutions and share valuable insights to enhance the overall security posture of the .eu TLD.

Commitment to stakeholders

Our commitment to cyber resilience extends to all stakeholders, including registrars, registrants and end-users. By maintaining a secure and reliable infrastructure, we ensure the trust and confidence of the European internet community.

At EURid, cyber resilience is not just a requirement; it is a fundamental aspect of our mission to manage the .eu TLD with excellence and integrity.

Secure DNS

At EURid, we prioritise the security of your domain names. Our comprehensive security measures include DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions), Registry Lock, and APEWS (Abuse Prevention and Early Warning System), among others.
