EURid to participate at the UNESCO Conference on 3 March 2015
Brussels, 26 February 2015 - EURid, the .eu registry, will attend and participate at CONNECTing the Dots: Options for Future Action from 3 – 4 March in Paris, France in support of a comprehensive and consultative multi-stakeholder study on Internet-related issues.
The two day event, which examines the study’s findings and aims to consider possible solutions, reviews existing and developing correlative trends, the strengths and weaknesses associated with access to information and knowledge, freedom of expression, privacy, and the ethical dimensions of the information society.
EURid will participate in the event following the signature, in February 2013, of the Memorandum of Understanding with UNESCO. The two bodies have the role to carry out common projects to contribute to the promotion of multilingualism in cyberspace with a special focus on research and analysis of International Domain Name (IDN) deployment and cooperation in preparation of joint Internet related events, meetings and projects.
EURid has already begun work on the 2015 IDNs - State of Play Insights report in partnership with UNESCO and with the cooperation of Verisign. The report will be presented later this year.
