EURid has published its Annual Report 2025, highlighting a year of consolidation, infrastructure modernisation, and community engagement as the organisation prepares to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the .eu domain in 2026.
At the end of 2025, the .eu domain name portfolio stood at 3.79 million registrations, supported by strong** renewal rates averaging 80.5%** throughout the year. Customer satisfaction remained consistently high at over 88%, while support requests continued to decline thanks to investments in automation, knowledge resources, and streamlined support processes.
A major milestone in 2025 was the launch of EURid’s redesigned website, developed entirely within the European Union. As the only domain registry providing information in all official EU languages, EURid continues to prioritise accessibility and inclusiveness for users across Europe.
Security and resilience remained central priorities. During the year, EURid modernised key infrastructure components, deployed next-generation firewalls, upgraded core technologies, and further strengthened its Information Security Management System. The registry also expanded the deployment of its Abuse Prevention and Early Warning System (APEWS), helping identify more than 56,000 suspicious domain registrations and leading to the suspension of nearly 30,000 domains following verification procedures.
“2025 was a year in which we strengthened the foundations of .eu by enhancing security, improving user experience, and deepening engagement with our community,” said Peter Janssen, General Manager of EURid. “As we approach the 20th anniversary of .eu’s public launch, we remain committed to ensuring that .eu continues to be a trusted, secure, and forward-looking digital identity for Europe.” Throughout the year, EURid maintained an active presence across the European internet governance and domain name ecosystem.
Key engagements included CloudFest 2025, where EURid met with registrars and industry stakeholders from around the world, and .eu Day at the European Parliament, which brought together policymakers, academics, and business representatives to discuss digital sovereignty and the future of Europe’s digital landscape.
The report also highlights the continued importance of multilingualism and digital inclusion. More than 33,000 Internationalised Domain Names (IDNs) are now registered under the .eu family of domains, while DNSSEC adoption continued to grow, reaching more than 775,000 secured domain names by year-end.
EURid’s registrar network remained a cornerstone of its success, with over 200 meetings and multiple engagement activities organised throughout the year. Meanwhile, the registry continued to support rights holders through its discounted Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) procedure, helping maintain a fair and trusted online environment.
