Warning: Fake registrar sends spam

11 July 2007

Brussels, 11 July 2007—EURid has become aware of a company trying to mislead the public by pretending to be the .eu registry. They have been reported to send spam emails to companies inviting them to register domain names via their service. The web address “www.euidregistration.eu” is used in the spam emails.

The company at issue is not a EURid-accredited registrar and EURid does not have any kind of connection with it. In the interest of our accredited registrars and in order to protect potential registrants, our legal team is now taking appropriate measures to handle this misleading behaviour.

EURid encourages anyone wanting to register a .eu domain name to do so via any of our accredited registrars.
