EURid at EU Internet Week 2012

28 Nov. 2012

Brussels, 5 November 2012 – The .eu registry EURid is part of EU Internet Week by supporting the 4th Annual Internet of Things Europe 2012 conference at the Management Centre Europe in Brussels, Belgium (12-13 November). EURid welcomes delegates to a networking cocktail reception from 5.30-7.00pm on 12 November.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the principle of connected devices and objects that are uniquely identifiable and are virtually represented in an Internet-like structure. This machine-to-machine interaction is increasingly becoming a reality as related technologies rapidly find their way into everyday life.

".eu is the route that many innovative European businesses and organisations take to promote their ideas online," said EURid’s General Manager, Marc Van Wesemael. "The organisation behind the Internet of Things is one example of a group at the forefront of new ideas who, I am pleased to note, uses a .eu website."

As one of the events during EU Internet Week (12-16 November 2012), the IoT conference is about "shaping Europe’s future Internet policy”. This meeting of public and private sector stakeholders aims to facilitate debate and explore key issues facing the IoT such as technological developments, international cooperation, ethics, privacy and security.
