Tech excellence
EURid continuously strives to enhance the quality of our services for our customers and end-users by providing innovative technical excellence.
Here are some of the services we offer.
Look up services
You can look up any information on a .eu, .ею (Cyrillic script) and .ευ (Greek script) domain name, or check if it is available for registration, by using the WHOIS lookup facility.
If you wish to contact the holder of a particular domain name, you can view their contact details from the web-based WHOIS.
If the holder is a company or organisation, you will see the name of the company/organisation, city, country, email address, and their preferred language of correspondence.
If the holder is a private person, you will only see their email address and preferred language of correspondence. All other personal data is hidden for privacy reasons.
For more information, please check our WHOIS policy.
If you believe that you have reason to obtain additional contact details than those provided via the web-based WHOIS, complete the Request form for registration data disclosure and email it to [email protected]. Your request must explain why you require the holder's contact details and how you intend to use them.
Pegistration data disclosure is managed on the basis of the Registration Data Disclosure Policy and Privacy Policy.
IPv6
EURid offers resolution of domain names both via IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
Domain name holders have always been able to use IPv6 addresses for their dedicated name servers, as EURid’s registration systems have had IPv6-capable name servers since the.eu's launch in 2006.
If you are connected to the Internet via IPv6, you will automatically reach www.eurid.eu on our IPv6 address.
Name servers
Registered domain names are stored on two unicast name servers, located in Europe, and three Anycast meshes located throughout the world (see the table below). EURid's name servers are updated dynamically. This means that when you register a domain name it is activated almost immediately. Any changes made to existing domain names are also effective immediately.

YADIFA name server
YADIFA is EURid's very own open source name server implementation. We developed YADIFA to increase the robustness of the .eu name server infrastructure by adding a stable alternative to the other name server implementations we were using.
YADIFA was written from scratch. This means that it doesn't inherit any of the potential weaknesses present in existing software. It supports all the current protocols, including DNSSEC with NSEC and NSEC3. It's RFC compliant.
And just like other implementations, YADIFA is portable across multiple operating systems, including Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and Solaris.
For more information on YADIFA and the source code, please visit www.yadifa.eu.
