Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - BORSEGGI for EURid

5 Jan. 2017

“BORSEGGI” (PICKPOCKETS), an Italian tailoring company based in the Milan-Opera prison, gives new life to EURid’s various marketing materials used during the EuroDIG meeting in June of 2016. More specifically, t-shirts and backpacks were repurposed by BORSEGGI to be reused during the numerous events EURid attends in 2017.

In the BORSEGGI workshop, inmates make bags, aprons, home and outdoor accessories, learning how to properly cut fabric as well as sew. BORSEGGI not only implements training and re-integration programs within prisons, but also does so for people in difficult situations such as refugees and people with disabilities.

EURid is a non-profit organisation appointed by the European Commission to manage the .eu and .ею top-level domains (TLD) by designing, implementing and maintaining the technical infrastructure needed for them to be present on the Internet. EURid is the first European registry to be registered with the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and continually seeks to minimise its carbon footprint through green actions and initiatives. .eu’s operations are the most environmentally responsible of any TLD in Europe.

BORSEGGI is a social project also supported by the City of Milan in accordance with the Provincial Regional Prison Administration and the Ministry of Justice.
