Phase out of Cyrillic .eu domain names on 31 May 2019

27 June 2018

As announced in May of 2016, the Cyrillic domain name(s) with the Latin .eu extension will be phased-out, i.e. deleted, following a three-year phase-out period ending on 31 May 2019. Please do not renew your Cyrillic domain name(s) with the Latin .eu extension, as even if the registration period is extended, it will be deleted on 1 June 2019. From 1 June 2019, only your Cyrillic domain name with the Cyrillic .ею extension will remain registered.

In order to avoid an interruption in your web presence as of 1 June 2019, we recommend you use your Cyrillic domain name(s) with the Cyrillic .ею extension. If you are already doing so, no action is required of you.

The phase-out of Cyrillic domain names with the Latin .eu extension is being done to follow the ‘no script mixing’ best practice for Internationalised Domain Names. The objective of the ‘no script mixing’ best practice is to avoid confusion about domain names that look similar. You can learn more about this best practice in our .ею guidelines.
