IDNA2008 non-conform domain names to phase out on 6 May 2016

25 April 2016

We would like to remind all interested parties that with the introduction of IDNA2008 in 2015, EURid is no longer supporting the following characters:

  • hyphens in the second, third and fourth position
  • “ŀ” (L followed by middle dot but not followed by a subsequent L)
  • "ı" (dotless i)

Therefore, as announced by email, newsletters and ad-hoc communications, domain names containing the aforementioned characters will be phased out as of 6 May 2016. All affected registrants and their registrars have already been notified of this change. Should you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].
