Latest about the IDN world at ME DNS Forum in Dubai

20 Feb. 2019

Dubai, 20 February 2019. Emily Taylor, main author of the IDN World Report, and Giovanni Seppia, EURid External Relations manager, will update attendees of the 6th ME DNS Forum on recent trends in Internationalised Domain Names.

For the first time in a decade, the 2018 IDN World Report shows a decline in global IDN registrations, as has also been experienced by EURid for IDNs under the .eu TLD.

“The IDN World Report continues to highlight the challenges that communities across the world are facing when they express their online identity by choosing a domain name in local languages and scripts. The entire research team remains committed to support those communities and to reflect their needs at a technical level. For the first time, thanks to our partnership with UNESCO, the 2019 IDN World Report will investigate the online presence of indigenous languages, in support of UNESCO`s  2019 International Year of Indigenous Languages”, stated Emily Taylor.
